A Note from Dr. Harrell Jordan

Be the Difference You Want to See

My name is Dr. Harrell Jordan. Thank you for taking the time to visit my website.

As a Black man who pursued higher education  in a predominantly female field, I have had my fair share of ups and downs. I had to quickly learn how to get comfortable in spaces where most faces would never look like me. I turned my sense of loneliness into a goal: become the example others need to see. This entailed going against the grain. Despite not having many examples of tangible Black male leaders in academia, I wanted to shape myself into the man that every young Black man needs to see to know exactly what’s possible. Whether teaching a class, leading a meeting, recreating workplace culture, promoting healthy behaviors, or holding friends and colleagues accountable, I have stepped up to the plate to change the narrative of what it means to be a Black male.

I am a motivational speaker, Christian counselor, a business owner, a mentor, a resume builder, a mock interviewer, husband, father, and soon to be author. My mission is to motivate people to do the unthinkable and walk towards the unimaginable. Many times, people already have the goods, they’re just unaware how to use them to their advantage. I’m an avid believer that once a person sets a goal for themselves, anything is possible. Let’s continue to build, grow, learn, surrender negative thinking, and embrace God’s will and plan for our lives. Get comfortable in the unknown and dare to be the difference you want to see.

Feel free to look through the website and see what best suits your needs. I am more than happy to meet with you to discuss things further.

"I highly recommend Dr. Jordan’s services. Dr. Jordan was my first counselor. He made the process easy and comfortable, while allowing me to be myself. There were areas we focused on such as anger, navigating being a first-time husband, as well as quickly stepping into leadership. Dr. Jordan is not just a counselor, he is also a mentor. He brings counseling, guidance and Christian spiritual aspects to life. Thank you, Dr. Jordan for your service and guidance. It has changed my life."

"I had a really positive experience with my counseling sessions with Harrell as they provided meaningful insights and personal growth. The environment felt safe and supportive, and I appreciated the space to process things openly. This approach helped me to better understand both myself and the situations I was navigating. My spouse also noticed my progress. Overall, this was a valuable experience that I’m grateful for."

"I’m honored to have had Dr. Jordan as a mentor and an advocate for young black males entering the nursing field while in school. When I wanted to abandon my dreams of becoming a nurse he gave me the encouragement to buckle down and keep going. Most importantly when I strayed off the path to graduating he held me accountable. Now I’m a nurse in the Emergency Department thriving and thirsty for knowledge. "

"Dr. Jordan came into my life at a time when I was questioning my path, not just as a nurse, but as a Black man navigating a field where we’re often underrepresented and undervalued. His words didn’t just motivate me, they moved me. He helped me see the power in my presence, the strength in my story, and the value in simply showing up as my full self. DJ doesn’t just mentor he empowers. Because of him, I walk with more purpose, more confidence, and a deeper understanding of why my voice matters. I can honestly say I was blessed to have been under his guidance."

"Genuine support can be difficult to find, particularly during challenging periods in life, and nursing school is no exception. During my time in nursing school, I had the privilege of meeting Dr. Harrell Jordan, under whose guidance I studied. While in school and shortly after, I experienced profound personal loss with the passing of my younger brother and best friend. These tragedies left me struggling with despair and hopelessness, feelings I initially kept to myself. As a husband and father, I felt an obligation to remain strong for my family. During this time, I received a text from Dr. Harrell Jordan inquiring about my well-being and progress with NCLEX preparation. Although I initially responded that I was fine, I soon found myself opening up about my struggles. Our conversation proved invaluable—Dr. Jordan listened attentively and offered reassurance, reminding me, “It is alright to cry.” His empathy and support were instrumental in helping me pass the NCLEX, as he provided effective strategies and emphasized the importance of self-care. With his encouragement, I learned to address my grief constructively rather than ignore it. I am deeply appreciative of Dr. Jordan’s support and mentorship; through this experience, I gained not only a valued but also a brother. I owe a debt of gratitude to Dr. Jordan and I will never forget. "

"Throughout my time in nursing school I struggled to the point of having to write a letter to the board of appeals to get back in my program. Once getting granted access back into my program I ran across Harrell and my time in school improved drastically. Having someone knowledgeable, motivating, and more importantly, someone who looked like me made a world of a difference. Not only did I begin to pass all of my classes with ease, but I became the Student Government President! I’m now a Pediatric ICU nurse with 2 years of experience and continue to excel, but would not have been without the mentorship from Harrell. A mentor in my opinion is someone who sees the best in you when you struggle to see it in yourself, he is that person!"

"I truly cannot thank Dr. Jordan enough for the incredible support and guidance he has provided throughout my nursing school journey. From the very beginning, he went above and beyondhelping me organize study sessions, break down complex topics, and stay focused when things felt overwhelming. Dr. Jordan’s encouragement and practical advice were a constant source of motivation, especially during times when I doubted myself. What sets Dr. Jordan apart is that he didn’t just support me academically; he was there for me personally, as well. Life didn’t stop during nursing school, and when I faced challenges at home or felt emotionally drained, they were someone I could talk to without judgment. His kindness, patience, and ability to listen made a huge difference in helping me stay grounded. With his help, I not only completed nursing school but also passed my boards—something that felt out of reach at times. I’m proud to now be a nurse, and I know I wouldn’t be here without Dr. Jordan's support. If you’re lucky enough to have Dr. Harrell Jordan as a mentor, know that you have someone who genuinely cares and will walk with you every step of the way. I’m endlessly grateful."

"I want to start off by saying thank you! Harrell has been an important contributor towards my healing and gave me a new understanding of how I need to carry myself through difficult seasons and trials. I spent a little more than a year with a different counselor and I feel like we didn’t make any progress. Getting connected with Harrell has been a God send and, honestly speaking, I don’t know where I would be if it wasn’t for the compassion and dedication that he has brought into our sessions. I’m still walking through a tough season. But ultimately, it’s a lot easier with someone like Harrell to stand beside you in tough times. I’ve gone from personally needing 2-3 sessions a week to having only 1 a week at most. Some weeks are more manageable to not even having to meet. God has definitely placed Harrell in my path for an important reason. I would definitely recommend Harrell to anyone who needs a safe and understanding individual to talk with. Once again, thank you for everything. God bless you and everyone God places in your path."
